The Garden House is the
Tongabezi Family retreat that is hidden away from the river banks and completely
enclosed by a private wall. The spacious house features two fully sized bedrooms, a
private lounge and dining room and an exclusive plunge pool. Funky African fusion
design and lavish attention to detail extends to a new spin on every single Tongabezi
activity ensuring that every member of the family can enjoy a fulfilling, exciting
exploration of the famous area. Guest at the Garden House can book The Lookout or
relax on any of a number of decks dotting the lodge to enjoy river views.
Bigger families can book Tangala House – considered one of the 500 most beautiful homes in the world it is the perfect secluded getaway. Tangala has three double rooms with en-suite bathrooms and a twin room with a separate bathroom, a large swimming pool, trampoline, lawn games and various board games as well as a television nook. The full complement of private staff will ensure that all you need worry about is having the best time ever. Fabulous food prepared by a dedicated chef is served to order either at the big dining table inside or outside, private guiding and exclusive use of boats and vehicles makes this choice the last word in bespoke travel.

Tongabezi’s commitment to children on safari extends to meals. We have dedicated children’s menu and or chef is happy to accommodate special requests, preferred meal times and separate hosted meals for the children – allowing the adults to enjoy extended excursions and some grown up time by themselves.
Adventure activities
With activities specially designed for the children’s entertainment such as:
- Tracking in and around the Tongabezi grounds. (Learning the sights and sounds of the surrounding environment)
- Visit to Tujatane, where children can play games with the local children as well as see how they live and learn.
- Fishing challenges. Learning to fish for the legendary Tiger fish.
- Quiz nights. Usually take place on the families last night and are accompanied by pizza and milkshakes while the children are quizzed on the new facts they have learnt during the course of their stay, and of course they will receive their official Tonga Test certificate.
- African bush TV (African story telling around the fire). Legendary African story telling around the fire.
- Specially designed tours of the falls, town centre and games drives which can be tailor made depending on the family’s interest. In the Mosi-Oa-Tunya game park we visit the baby rhino, beetles, worms, lion ants and learn how to make toothbrushes and other bush skills.
- African treasure hunt
- Drumming sessions around the camp fire at night.
- Child friendly board games in the event of bad weather.
- Tiger fishing lessons
All of the activities can include or exclude mum and dad depending on whether they would like to enjoy a romantic dinner for two on the san pan while the children have their quiz night, or prefer to get involved in the challenge of being the first to catch Tiger fish.
