Thank you for all the kind hospitality to make this the perfect place for our engagement! We will always remember our stay here, and hope to return for wedding anniversary in the future.
We would just like to say a huge thank you for making our wedding day so magical and wonderful. We were overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness, kindness and effort you went to in order to make us feel so special and make our day perfect. We appreciate all the time, organisation, patience and attention to detail you all went to, we honestly could not have asked or wished for a better day. Special thanks to Nyambe and Myaze for looking after us so well and being there for us on the big day and of course Fabias for escorting us everywhere. We will never forget everything you did for us and you will always have a special place in our memories and our hearts. We are in the process of making a DVD for you with all the pictures and hope to get it in the post soon!! Special thanks and best wishes.
Thank you to all of you. As am writing this am crying. Though am excited for the rest of my trip, am so sad to leave you. This was an incredible few days. I will never forget all of you and will be back one day. Take care of yourselves and your families, be well. A very special thanks to Charles and Brian. I will remember Charles for his kindness, his smile and his laugh. And Brian I will remember him for the nice canoe trip, your stories and you intelligence. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful time on the island. Everything was especially enchanting. The service was exceptional and the experience ever changing. I will always remember my time with the staff at Sindabezi.
I can live here for seven years. Thank you for the most enjoyable stay. This is an amazing spot, we have travelled a lot and this is one of the best. Not only is Africa beautiful but the surroundings and people at Tongabezi are the perfect representation of this land.
The visit was wonderful! We have experienced the luxurious and elegance of some safari lodges (cc Africa Phinda) but this to us was authentically, pure Africa at its best to be completely out in the open in nature rather than observing it from a house or lodge – is an exotic experience and then with Tongabezi staff’s pampering is fascinating and fabulous experience of a lifetime! We will be back. Zikomo kwambiri! Chande and Raphael were excellent hosts. Dadu was the quiet essential valet, Brenda was friendly and Helpful as everyone was, staff as well as ambience is what makes Tongabezi amazing!
Enjoyed Tongabezi immensely were made most welcome. Special thanks to the choir and to the chef for our anniversary cake!! Very caring and nice of you all. Our stay in the DH was great very relaxing only wish we could have stayed longer. A big thank you to Forbes for a wonderful dinner in our room on our last night with a cosy romantic fire. Felt he did an excellent job of looking after us, we must also say a big thank you for recovering our battery charger that we left at safari camp in Botswana.Overal Tongabezi exceeded our expectations and was the perfect end for our first holiday in Africa.
We truly found Tongabezi to be glorious. The setting, architecture, staff and food…
Thank you very much.
Dear Tongabezi, Many many thanks for a fantastic night with you guys. Everything exceeded my biggest expectations. You run a truly fantastic product. The staff are phenomenally friendly and professional. Your dedication to the local community and the Livingstone area is commendable and in my opinion unparalleled. Me and Ange thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were literally blown away. A huge thank you again. I will do a write up for the LTA, it was a truly fantastic experience.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank you and the full Tongabezi Team for – The great service – The very fresh, succulent and innovative food program – The great work of the guides – The overall perfect Lodge
As a holiday I don’t think Sindabezi followed by Luangwa Safari Lodge could be bettered for small group such as we were, wanting a really special time. 5 of our group of 7 had never been to Zambia before and they are all determined to return as soon as possible. I don’t know what to rave about first – the wonderful position (we never saw anyone else on a boat on this part of the Zambezi during our entire stay bar the occasional local fishermen) the unfailingly helpful and charming people who looked after us as though our happiness and wellbeing was their only concern, the amazing food, the elephant and hippos which came by to visit… the list goes on and on!!!! We didn’t really have quite enough time to do it all justice and, another time, I would opt for 3 nights so that we could actually lounge round the island a little more. Never mind, a perfect excuse to return.
I have to say that I have absolutely NOTHING but praise for both Tongabezi and Sindabezi. The impression that I got was that both lodges are extremely well managed, every effort is being made to accommodate the needs of the guests, the staff are excellent and knowledgeable, the food is great and the location PERFECT. Throughout my trip I stayed over at 14 lodges/camps/hotels on a 14 night itinerary and Sindabezi was definitely the favourite. Since my return, I have not been able to stop myself from suggesting it to everybody remotely considering going to the area and have been waxing on lyrically about it in the office. I would love to come back again for a longer stay some time in the future.
My wife and I spent a night on Sindabezi Island, what a pleasure hey!! Definitely a gem hidden away. We loved the new look, well done and wish you the best for the coming season!! Via Facebook
The food was top notch every day. The servers were friendly and very attentive. Yummy! I'm a vegetarian and the Chef went out of his way to make me tasty and delicious veggies.
We were guests at Tongabezi lodge last week during our first trip to South Africa and Zambia and were honoured to visit your school. First of all let me tell you how incredibly impressed my husband and I were when we met the teachers, some of the kids and, understood the philosophy and mission statement of the school. Not only did we think Tongabezi Lodge was the most incredible place on earth but we wholeheartedly support both you and your husband as a result of your ethics and principles.
Our stay at Tongabezi was nothing less than spectacular. The staff (each and every one of them) are magnificent! They ALL speak very highly of their lodge! Given was our Valet and he was simply amazing! We were treated like royalty and truly did not want to leave. I can guarantee we will be back!
I don't even know where to begin.....the lodge is absolutely stunning, the people are truly the warmest people you will find anywhere, the food is 7 star and I now have an idea what it feels like to be royalty because that is exactly how we were treated. We stayed in "The Dog House" and it was incredible. Given was our personal Valet and catered to our every need. On our last night he served us dinner in our room and created a beautiful fire....every attention to detail is made!!! Falling asleep each night listening to the sounds of the river animals is something you cannot even begin to imagine until you are there. Aside from the above, I would also like to add that the owner of the lodge is very good to his staff and THAT speaks volumes about his business ethics....something that is very important. We just arrived home and already want to come back.....ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!!
“We really cannot say anything bad/objective about this place! The service was beautiful, from our valet (Nyambe) who attended to our every need, and literally treated us like Royalty (running baths, running around after us etc.) At meal times, on excursions, during every moment, you never felt rushed, everything was at your own desired pace. Even at meal times, the group of local singers who came to serenade you really added that extra touch. We loved the romance of the place, how you were asked each meal time where you wanted to sit, there were a number of options all with such careful consideration so that you had a lovely view and in general a great experience. Our main guide, Godfrey, was excellent - very patient and flexible when we wanted to vary some of the activities. For example, we asked if we could go to the croc park on the way back from the Livingstone market, and this was no problem at all. The food was superb at the lodge, the portions were on the small side, but all it took was on the first meal for us to ask for extra bread and salad with no dressing for me, and then every meal this was done without a word on our part. The Tree House was absolutely breathtaking, the setting, the comfort, the tranquillity. This really did completely wow us when we arrived. We went to the local village & to the Tongabezi school and were very humbled. We agreed to sponsor a couple of the kids after meeting them and really getting a feel for the good work they do there. The activities in general were great, loads of options. I really can't fault it. It was a wonderful experience, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment, and would love to go back. We would rate the overall experience 10/10”
After a huge build up and lots of drama beforehand, the 3 days spent at Tongabezi with Bettina & Bob's wedding was incredible... The staff's friendliness and willingness to help, the service (Charles was exceptional), the smiles, the singing, but above all GARY GARY GARY.... what a star!!I know my job would have been much more difficult without his guidance and quick responses and he is an incredible asset to Tongabezi as I'm sure you are aware of! Thank you so much Gary, for everything. Rudy's hospitality made me feel that I could go to him with anything and he'll make a plan as far as he possibly can! :-)A big thank you to the staff for their wonderful singing - their enthusiasm as Bettina came down for the legal ceremony and the spontaneous dancing she got Bob to take part in was for me the highlight of the day.Lastly thanks to Ken, the chef, for the food - the pork fillet and shortbread basket was particularly good and the food on the island exactly right. What an honour to be part of such a special day from the backdrop of the magic of Tongabezi and see them get married in what HAS to be one of the most spectacular places in the entire World! If you ever need a reference please feel free to ask prospective clients/agents to contact me. Many thanks!! :-)
Tongabezi exceeded our expectations. We started out in Cottage 1 on the banks of the Zambezi and would have been happy to stay there but were upgraded for the last two nights to the Honeymoon House which was even better. The views of the river from our room and from the different places that we dined were amazing. Our valet for the stay, Given, was wonderful and was quietly responsive to all of our needs. The food was outstanding – well prepared, interesting and tasty – the portions were the right size with lots of wonderful fresh vegetables. The activities and the staff (Juliette, Moses, Brian, Victor, Samson) who had responsibility for each one were terrific - knowledgeable (about the animals on the game drive, the flora and fauna on the river, the geologic history of the falls, the sociology and anthropology of the people) and fun! We went on a game drive, a sunset cruise, a lunch cruise on a long boat, a canoe trip to Sindabezi, a bicycle ride to Simonga along with a tour of the village, a hike around Victoria Falls, and a micro light airplane tour of the falls. No complaints at all.
Again, thank you for everything. We greatly appreciated your help.
We stayed at Tongabezi for the last 2 nights of a 2-month round-the-world honeymoon. It was nothing short of incredible, and one of the absolute highlights of our trip. It was an oasis of tranquility and calm, friendliness and smiles, particularly from our personal valet, Trega, who is the coolest of the cool. ‘So I was thinking, seeing as you are just going to relax in your house today, you’ll probably be wanting a coolbox of beer and wine … it’s coming right up’ – and with one of those smiles that just makes you smile all day.
There are 4 main rooms, each of which has one side missing - as in it is open to the elements and to the views outside - with mosquito nets draped over your beds. Our room – the ‘Honeymoon House’ – had quite possibly the best view in the world onto Zimbabwe and the Zambezi River, be it from the bathroom, the bed, the massage table (they come to your rooms for massage, manicure, etc and the table is set up on your terrace), or even the toilet! We were woken up in the morning to the sound of birds and monkeys in the trees and hippos grunting along the riverbanks. Oh, and there was a free-standing OUTDOOR bath on your terrace, making it truly a honeymoon experience.
The staff all know who you are and greet you by name each day; they bend over backwards to organise personalised trips / events over and above those provided in the price, with your table set for breakfast, lunch or dinner wherever you like in the grounds. They organised a Zambian quintet to seranade a happy marriage for us on our first evening as a surprise; they organised a moonset/sunrise trip along the river on our last morning - complete with warming cups of tea before breakfast and they prepared lunch for just the 2 of us on a canopy-covered boat, with a chilled bottle of wine. Just fabulous.
If you happen to be there at the time of the full moon, take the option of going to see the lunar rainbow at Victoria Falls - it really is something special (and not just a money-making ploy).
Tongabezi, we found, provided genuine, impeccable, smiley service - and from locals; one of the few safari places to hire and train locals as managers, as well as supporting the local school (where all the staff can send their children too). We were seriously impressed and can't recommend it highly enough.
Although we werent in the main part of Tongabezi, there doesnt seem to be a separate area for Tangala comments so we are including them here.
Tangala House is located a few km's upstream from the main Tongabezi area and is actually the home of the lodge owners who vacate the property as and when guests arrive. The house as a result runs extremely well by the established domestic team. Every aspect of our trip was taken care of by our amazing guides. We were warmly welcomed into the house and it got better every day and we were reluctant to leave. The staff were non intrusive and a pleasure to be around. Attentive and extremely knowledgeable.
The food was excellent and the chef amazingly accommodating. This is an authentic African home and although luxurious, anyone uncomfortable with that should stay at the Royal Livingstone.
The benefit of having our own house and garden with pool meant complete freedom and space for the kids who we didnt have to worry about disturbing anyone. There was even a trampoline there. Our only neighbours were the numerous hippos and elephants who made their presence known, particularly at night! The 4 gorgeous house dogs made us feel safe and added to the warm homely environment. The staff would leave us after dinner and returned in the early morning. You are given instructions if you need to make contact with reception via radio, however, you are basically left alone. It worked well for us and we would 100% recommend beautiful Tangala.
We had a fantastic time at Sindabezi (and Tonga) and talked about it all the way through Botswana. The island was just fantastic. Your team is amazing and I can truly say, they are streets ahead of many places in Botswana. Henry the chef is outstanding and the service was faultless
We wanted to thank you all so much for making our wedding on Livingstone Island so memorable and fantastic!
Your communication and help before we arrived in Zambia, including helping us sort out all the arrangements, was brilliant and we felt very reassured that we had made the right choice for our wedding.
The choir on the island were excellent and the food was superb- what a lovely way to end our wedding ceremony. Thank you also for organising the ministers and everyone so that we could have both the legal and religious parts done on the island- we really enjoyed that. The flowers you organised were beautiful and thank you for dropping them off at the hotel for us.
Lastly, a HUGE thank you to Alex for his unbelievable photography and to all the others who took videos and pictures for us. We have some beautiful shots which is amazing considering both of us hate having our photo taken!! Please pass on our thanks to them all as they have helped preserve the memories of our wedding day. Also, we would strongly recommend offering their services to people in the future- they really were very good. And thank you to Prince Harry for driving the boat slowly through the rapids and not soaking my dress! :)
We are glad that we got to meet you all and we will definitely come back to celebrate our anniversary in the future.
Just wanted to let you know how positive the feedback was from our clients The DeLillos. They had a brilliant time at Tongabezi, raved about everything - the Dog House, the food, the staff, and the special treatment they received as honeymooners. As you will recall - they came to you guys after Mombo, always a tough act to follow, but Tongabezi clearly held its own. Their trip to Livingstone Island and their dip in The Devil's Pool ended up being one of the most memorable things they have ever done.
I really can not thank you enough for your personal attention to this booking, for the upgrade, and for your assistance in helping take extra special care of the guests after a rocky departure from Mombo. Please share our thanks with the staff - they did an absolutely superb job with these guests!
I am sure you have heard this all before, but everything about Tongabezi was perfect. I have travelled a lot and stayed in some extremely nice places, but I have never stayed anywhere as wonderful as Tongabezi. I cannot imagine a single thing that you could improve on. Of course, the setting is incredible, but you have gotten every detail right. I absolutely did not want to leave. I was just sick that we only had one night there.
Starting with Tongabezi, we were so impressed with the charm of the place and it was just wanted we wanted. Not too glitzy or overly luxurious, but very charming and well designed. The food was unbelievably good and the staff all charming and they made us feel very welcome. We loved being on Sindabezi . We were the only guests on our own private island with a five people looking after us, and we felt very spoilt. Our guides were wonderful and we went on a Sunset cruise on the first evening, and then next day went to the Falls, getting back in time for lunch at Tongabezi (where we also had lunch on the first day). On the island our own chef made us the most delicious dinners and breakfasts. The thatched, open sided cottages were absolutely magical with stunning views over the Zambezi, and we thought we had arrived in heaven. It was a very good idea of yours to start our holiday there as it was so relaxing and just what we needed to unwind after the rush of getting us all there. We cannot praise it highly enough. One of the best things is that even though we didn’t do any game drives for those two days, our boat trips to and from the island, were a wonderful way to see game, especially as the Zimbabwean side of the river was a game reserve and we saw quite a lot on the bank. We also saw endless hippos, crocodiles, elephants (all of which were noisily very near or on our island at night – very exciting). Our best experience of the whole holiday, was coming across an elephant swimming across the river only a couple of yards in front of us.
If we ever go on another safari holiday, we will definitely be in touch with you again. But this might have been the holiday of a lifetime. We will definitely remember it always, and have enough photos and video footage to keep the memories alive!
Thanks you for a fantastic experience, I am a solo traveler and felt very comfortable. The staff was great and Sindabezi is just fabulous!
My stay was fantastic unfortunately I did not organize it myself - I think at least one night more would have been perfect.
The staff is impeccable! The personal care provided is real and eager to help with a smile.
Absolutely amazing. The ideal (perfect) Honeymoon destination and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. We felt everyone went out of their way. We only wish we had more time here. A huge thanks to everyone for making our stay so extra special!
Thank you for amazing tme, we can't wait to come back.
Fantastic Romantic Room, We enjoyed every detail. Beautiful decorations. What a view on the Zambezi. Coffee on the deck in the morning. Listening to the deep snoring sound of the hippos. Great service, Nyambe our valet did a great job, Rose petals on the bed and in the bath tub warm water and bath gel in it to welcome us after a day of joy from the activities, Fall and park. Thanks staff. you did a great job.
We stayed 3 nights in the nut house, and had a wonderful stay. The accommodation is of an extremely high quality, matched only by the level of service provided. Perfect! The people there are so nice too, always asking about what you've been doing, and sharing their own experiences.
I loved the food and resisted the temptation to share with the local monkeys and baby hippo!
The activities included at Tongabezi were all of excellent quality, and the guides are well trained and extremely knowledgable.
A very special place to stay.
A lovely stay. We enjoyed very minute, especially the beautiful views and fantastic activities. The staff is extremely friendly and responsive, a luxurious stay!! Thank you very much for a wonderful holiday!!
Livingstone island was fantastic, the guide to the Falls was also very fun and knowledgeable. Everyone here is wonderful! Trega was absolutely wonderful, extremely nice and helpful. We had an amazing experience here in Zambia thank to all of you!!
We stayed at Tangala and this was the best vacation we have ever had. The staff were wonderful in every way. We loved it, thank you, thank you!
My daughter and myself had a wonderful time at Tongabezi and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your manager Rudy. I had a problem with my visa and Rudy was kind, considerate and very helpful. Julia was as well. Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated their help and kindness.
A wonderful experience! Top food, service, cleanliness and ambiance. Friendly staff that remember and call us by name is a nice friendly trait. Great location on a magnificent river. Wild life and majesty of the Zambezi enriches the experience. Would definitely recommend.
The recommended stay is 3 days but Tongabezi and Zambia have so much to offer, more time is needed. If we had done all the activities we would not have time to relax in the beautiful accommodation. Very very impressed with our driver Fabias, comfortable and safe . The cultural activities were superb in vegetable market, village and school have an excellent insight to life in Zambia. Thank you to all the staff ( especially Nyambe) who made our stay at Tongabezi such a wonderful experience.
The sindabezi staff are brilliant, Brian, Brenda, Joe, Ronald and Vicus are wonderful. We had a beautiful dinner on the san pan on our last night. We so appreciate the huge effort the sindabezi staff made to make this such a special evening.
The quality of food, accommodation, staff and the magnificent setting make for a truly memorable experience. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. And all the staff are fantastic. Forbes is extremely good at what he does, nothing too much trouble. Raphael very kind and helpful. Victor delightful and so polite and too many more to mention.
Sindabezi was like our own little island in the middle of the Zambezi river. Where else do you travel to and from your lodge in a speed boat, game and bird watching on the way.
Our room was large with wonderful views over looking the river and stunning sunsets. There were no walls, only curtains around our room which had a large bed, and fairly basic furniture but what did it matter when you had plenty of to see. There was an outside shower and even had a 'loo with a view' . In the morning our butler brought our tea but we were already up and watching the large variety of beautiful birds. Although there was no electricity at the lodge, the ambiance and peace more than made up for it.
The food was great and more than plentiful with lovely fresh vegetables and salads all grown at Tongabezi. One evening we ate pork which tasted magnificent - nothing like our pork in the U.K.
The staff could not do enough for you and even arranged for my wife to leave early the morning of our departure, to use the hairdryer at Tongabezi!!
After the last place we stayed I thought nothing better would happen but nowhere in the world could beat Tongabezi because of the kindness of the staff. If I was to tell you all the good parts of Tongabezi I would need 100 more pages so I have to stop.
"Tongabezi was another world. The accommodation, setting and service was second to none. Sitting on the terrace watching the sun set is something I will never forget., Our butler ran a bath for me each night and made sure the heated blankets were on before we went to bed. It was incredible. We managed to fit in a sunset cruise the day we arrived. Victoria Falls the following morning and then of course the elephant safari in the afternoon. It was Paul’s birthday and although he was a little unsure about an elephant ride initially he thoroughly enjoyed the trip and it will certainly be a birthday to remember. The only problem at Tongabezi was getting a trip to Livingstone Island as they were fully booked. They were extremely helpful and we managed a trip at 7 am on the morning of departure. It was a rush but we managed it and they were so accommodating."
One of the most valuable and rewarding aspects of life of our stay on Sindabezi Island was the bush T.V. Conversation around the fire each evening. In the dialogue of sharing by Brenda and Felix was particulary enjoyable and thoughtful. We all learned so much about Zambia and living here, each night our children came back with more question. These were the most informative and interesting of all.
Was the best staff, was the most friendly, helpful, gracious staff we have had in all our travels. Kudos to Given, Fabias and Capt Victor. We will highly recommend Tongabezi.
Ronald's knowledge of the river and bird life was exceptional. Nasson's enthusiasm and professional was superb! Brian and Godfrey organised all of our activities and accommodation to stay at Sindabezi and it was greatly appreciated. Joe did an excellent job in taking care of our room and morning tea. The food the entire stay was absolutely delicious quality and variety was excellent and fresh and homemade goodness, thanks to Pamela and Henry. We will be back! Thank you!
Great! Victor and Godfrey were tremendous, knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the different doing opportunities - Sampan dinner was exquisite! Thomas was so, so helpful! Everyone was so courteous and kind.
Have been delighted by the friendliness of all the staff, it has been a truly wonderful introduction to Zambia. Really enjoyable having dinner with the Manager and learning more about the lodge etc. (I loved finding the bath filled on my return from our activity.)
Simply the Best! The whole property is gorgeous. Every meal perfect.....that says a lot because we are a bunch of foodies living in NYC! Every evening the nice fire by the water was a nice spot to have a cocktail. So many details like coming back from dinner and a electric blanket under my sheets in bed had been turned on so when I got in it was nice and cozy...
Stayed with us before? Drop us a line and tell us about your holiday at Tongabezi...
