Christmas 2014 / New Year's Eve 2015 Package

End the year with a bang; African drums, cultural dancers and a fabulously scrummy five-course meal at Tongabezi Lodge, Zambia

"To know a country is to know its people, their history and customs."

Tongabezi Lodge, the first river lodge at Victoria Falls in Zambia, is offering a package that enables participants to gain insight into Zambian traditions at Christmas (December 23 to 26, 2014) or New Year’s (December 30, 2014 to January 1, 2015). It’s a celebration set against the primal sound of African drums, cultural dancers, glorious nature and feasts of food.

The all-inclusive cost for each three-night stay is $1,785, including accommodations, meals, bar drinks, all entertainment, one massage and many river activities.

Guests take a day to enjoy inclusive and exclusive activities while they settle into the African rhythm of life on the shores of the Zambezi.

The following evening (Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve) a sunset boat trip will put everyone in the celebratory mood before Marimba Music welcomes guests back to shore.

Sindabezi Island guests have special sundowners on a nearby island (shoes optional).

Tongabezi Lodge guests will leave for the Maramba Cultural Village for traditional dance entertainment—with dances originating from nine different provinces representing the 73 tribes of Zambia and the various cultural aspects of each, and signify the coming together as One People.

The entertainment is followed by a sumptuous five-course candlelight dinner under the stars. During the evening the wonderful Tongabezi choir might make an appearance and at the campfire after dinner, guides pass on the traditional folklore they learnt at the knees of their grandparents. Find out why the hippo lives in the water and why the hare is a social pariah.

On Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, guests may choose to cruise to a deserted Island for a brunch overlooking the beguiling Zambezi as it flows toward Victoria Falls.

Christmas 2014 ~ Father Christmas and the choir will make an appearance on the morning of the 25th of December. Later that day expect a magnificent feast for lunch followed by a sunset boat trip and dinner with mulled wine around the campfire.

New Year 2015 ~ An afternoon island drink party with special snacks will start the evening’s festivities on the 31st of December. Back in camp the End of Year dinner will be accompanied by the Maramba Cultural National Dance Troup at Tongabezi and a Marimba band on Sindabezi Island. A fireworks display from the surrounding islands will ring in the new year at midnight.

{A Bloody Mary or the Chef’s Secret Soup will be available early on the 1st of January 2015 to clear heads and guarantee luck for the New Year.}

There is free time during each day for outings to Victoria Falls, viewing hippos in the river, game drives in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, massages, shopping and other inclusive and exclusive activities in this land of jaw-dropping beauty and abundant wildlife.
